Thin dough layers are applied on a spit and individually baked in front of an open flame, giving it its unique taste.
By doing so, up to 15 layers are created, resembling rings of a tree. And this refers to the literal translation of “Baumkuchen”: tree cake.
A coating of delicious dark or whole milk chocolate adds the finishing touch.
The complex manufacturing requires long years of experience and special skills by the pastry chefs.
The reward for this labor-intensive preparation is a high-class cake also known as the “King of Cakes”.
