Kuchenmeister Sustainability Report 2021

For more than a decade, Kuchenmeister has been committed to progress and further development in terms of sustainability. That’s why Kuchenmeister regularly publishes a sustainability report which, for example, discloses the measures we are taking to protect the climate and save energy. In addition, Kuchenmeister sets himself fixed goals for the coming years.

This year, the sustainability report looks back above all to the construction of a new production hall on the site of the “Alte Zuckerfabrik” in Soest – a former industrial wasteland which Kuchenmeister has filled with life again. The production hall with adjoining administration area is a prime example of sustainable construction. Increased roof and thermal protection, ISO-Rock concrete walls that do not need to be painted, triple-glazed windows, heat recovery systems, photovoltaic energy, 100% LED lighting and the use of 21,000 tons of recycled bricks are just a few of the elements that make the new building special. Additionally, biodiversity is a top priority on the site at the “Alte Zuckerfabrik”. In addition to a more than 13,900 square meter wild meadow and over 130 trees, sheep and 16 bee colonies have also found a home here.

Kuchenmeister is also continuously developing their packaging and will be using fully recyclable cake base packaging in 2022. In addition, Kuchenmeister has set itself the goal of converting 80% of its packaging to recyclable materials by the end of 2023.

The current sustainability report offers a detailed insight into these and many other topics that Kuchenmeister deals with every day, because sustainability not only refers to climate protection, but also affects many different areas of the company.
